Alden F. Abbott, Deputy Director in the FTC’s Office of International Affairs, represents the agency before foreign governments and international organizations. Previously, as Associate Director in the Bureau of Competition, he oversaw FTC antitrust policy development and case evaluation. Mr. Abbott formerly held senior positions in the U.S. Departments of Commerce (Acting General Counsel; Chief Counsel, National Telecommunications and Information Administration) and Justice (Special Assistant to the Assistant Attorney General for Antitrust) and was a Visiting Fellow at All Souls College, Oxford University. Mr. Abbott, who has written and lectured extensively on law and economics, is a long time member of the adjunct faculty of George Mason University School of Law. He is a graduate of Harvard Law School (J.D.), Georgetown University (M.A., Economics) and the University of Virginia (B.A.).
